a heritage stopover island โ
natural islandic journey and beyond
Sinergi Edukasi dan Teknologi dalam Pengelolaan Lingkungan dan Wisata Pulau Tunda
Tunda Island features a vibrant marine ecosystem with coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds. Current study found 25 coral genera around the island, dominated by Porites, and a diverse reef fish community with omnivores having the highest biomass.
The islandโs name, "Tunda," means "to postpone" and comes from a legend about the Sultan of Banten using the island as a stopover during a delayed journey. This story enriches the islandโs cultural heritage and has been passed down through generations.
Tunda Island is growing as a tourist spot with activities like snorkeling, diving, fishing, and dolphin watching. The local community in Wargasara is actively involved, but challenges with water resource sustainability are being addressed through awareness and conservation efforts.
Waterโquality sensors now dot the waters, pinging fresh data to shore every few minutes. Because the island team can spot any spike in pollutants the moment it happens, they act fast and keep the surrounding sea sparkling clean.
A compact, lowโsmoke trash incinerator hums quietly behind the villageโturning waste to ash before it ever reaches the tide line. The result is a beach free of plastic drift and a horizon no longer marred by drifting trash fires.
In the island's center stands a solar charging station, its panels drinking in the sun from dawn to dusk. Travelers, fishers, and schoolkids simply plug in and power up, proving that reliable energy can be as abundant as daylight itself.
A sturdy waterโlevel recorder logs every rise and fall of the tide, 24โฏhours a day. Those precise numbers feed straight into warning apps and research dashboards, helping the community anticipate floods and plan for the future with confidence.
To invite the world to experience this paradise, a Virtual Tour Platform showcases every corner of the island in stunning 360ยฐ views. Anyone can explore the whiteโsand beaches, crystalโclear waters, and ecoโfriendly facilities online, feeling as if they are already there before they even set foot on the island.
